Whitaker-Myers Associates Organize GOODWILL fundraiser

In the Wooster, Ohio office our service staff members and agents organized a fundraiser for Goodwill Industries of Wayne and Holmes Counties by holding a Clothing Drive and Cookout during pregame of the September 19th Wooster High School vs. Ashland High School Homecoming football game at Wooster High School Stadium.  It was the first time to hold this fundraiser AT THE STADIUM and it was a HUGE success for Goodwill!

At the west stadium entrance from 5:30pm - 7:30 pm Whitaker-Myers staff members and Goodwill Executive Office associates grilled hot dogs and offered a FREE hot dog and bottled water to anyone donating a regular-sized grocery sack of clothing (or a cash donation) for Goodwill.  All proceeds benefit Goodwill Industries of Wayne & Holmes Counties, Inc.   The event was an initiative of Whitaker-Myers associates and was held in conjuction with the Wooster High School Homecoming Football Game festivities for the first time ever.  The game, played against Wooster's nearby rival Ashland Arrows was a Wooster victory, as the Generals out-pointed the Arrows 21-14.  Ashland, Ohio is another vibrant county seat community in the county next door (Ashland) in which Whitaker-Myers Insurance Group also has an insurance office (Ingmand Agency).

Below are two pictures of the event.  Pictured in the first photo over the grill are Joel Bender, Scott Allen and Chris Vanderzyden.  In the 2nd photo are Scott Allen, Joel Bender and Goodwill CEO Judy Delaney.

A Fitting End For Two Distinguished Careers

On June 20th at Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield, family, friends, clients and Whitaker-Myers Insurance Group associates celebrated the long, distinguished careers of Emmett Mennetti and Donald Aten.  Don and Emmett retired as of July 1, 2007.  Approximately 70 of us gathered to reminisce and express our appreciation and friendship with/for Don and Emmett.  Both men shared their thoughts about the rewarding and enjoyable careers spent in the insurance business and, most of all, expressed their gratitude to clients, family and friends for not only their business and confidence over the years, but especially the thoughtful attendance of those present.

Both Don and Emmett worked for Lumberman's Insurance Company, were involved in the "in-house" insurance agency for that company and subsequently began their own independent agency together as business partners by purchasing that agency, taking the name Aten & Mennetti Insurance Agency.  Their insurance careers spanned over 40 years, including the past four as consultants and account executives as  part of the Whitaker-Myers Insurance Group family, Emmett in the Mansfield office and Don in the group's Ashland office.  Both report now that they plan a healthy, busy, active retirement right at home in the Ashland (Don) and Lexington/Mansfield (Emmett) communities.

Both men received an engraved Wooster Clock Company wall clock as gifts from the agency group in appreciation of their service and commitment to the industry and the firm.   Health, happiness and best of luck to you both, gentlemen.  You were (and are) the consumate professionals and represented our industry and our agency group with class.  Though we know you are still close by, we'll miss you at the office, Don and Emmett!!

Welcome Lesley Woosley

FREE SHOPPING FOR AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE

Our Personal Accounts Department is incredible.  This isn't news, we just thought we'd remind you!  We represent 10 different insurance companies and offer HOME/AUTO package quotations with all of them.  Give us a try or tell a friend to call us, or stop in.  Or, send us an inquiry in the "Contact" page of this site.  We'll call you back.  While insurance carriers do request alot of information and they all automatically run MVRs, CLUE and Credit reports as a part of their underwriting and rating process, we can normally quote ALL of our companies for you within 24-48 hours.  Imagine that!  An agency that you know and trust who can do your shopping FOR you!!  We'll set up the coverage/program, obtain the quotes, review them and point out which is the best value and fit for YOU - and we'll explain why.  And then, of course, we're always here for you for ongoing service and claims reporting.

Just another reason why at Whitaker-Myers, we're all about "Answers, Results and Peace of Mind."

Term Life Insurance that Returns Your Premiums to your pocket!

Call our office for "Return of Premium" (ROPe) insurance.  Term life is great because it's low-cost, but it IS like "renting":  if you don't die, your money is gone.  What if a term policy could add up all your premiums and mail them back to you if you LIVED?  The ROPe policy does just that!  The new "ROPe" policies pay you back EVERY PENNY you paid in premiums if you DON'T die during the policy term.  If you're willing to pay a bit more to "bet against" the insurance company (and get ALL your money back if you're right), then this new "ROPe" term policy is for YOU!!  Call Ellen Bellanco (Ext. 322) to find out more and get a quick, free quote!!     -wmiai

Conceal & Carry Gun Law - Risks To Consider

Now that the new Federal Law is on the books, many businesses are taking steps to adopt policies and procedures regarding the public and employees entering the premises with a concealed handgun.  Companies are posting signs to this effect, as required by law, stating their position on entering with a firearm.  If your company has addressed this issue (hopefully with adequate legal advice), you may also want to consider the implication of this new exposure to your overall risk and your insurance program.

Decisions such as these can impact Directors & Officers Liability exposures.  Exposure increases immediately regarding allegations against your company for decisions made that affect consitututional rights and civil liberties and which may also affect protection from crime at your workplace.  This means that exposure changes regarding Workplace Violence, Kidnap-Ransom-Extortion, Crime, Employment Practices (Discrimination/Wrongful Termination/Harrassment), and even General Liability or Employers Liability coverages are now a concern.

If your company doesn't have these coverages or, hasn't considered the impact to them from the new handgun law and your approach to it, email or call us for a review.  It's a matter of safety and risk management.

Identity Theft - It Could Happen to Anyone!

Policies are now beginning to become available to reimburse costs associated with investigation and reclamation of identity as a result of an identity theft incident.  Some companies (Cincinnati Insurance is one example) already have a Homeowners endorsement available for Identity Theft.  This easy add-on to a CIC Homeowner's policy (Identity Theft Expense Endorsement) can be obtained for as little as $25 annually, with a $250 deductible.  Other companies are beginning to offer similar optional protection.

Forms like the CIC endorsement cover expenses like:

  • Fees for attorneys, hired with company approval to defense lawsuits, remove wrongly entered judgements, or to challenge accuracy of information in your consumer credit report
  • Costs for notarized fraud affidavits and certified mail
  • Fees for loan applications when required for re-application of a denied loan due to identity theft
  • Wages lost as a result of time spent clearing your name (max per day $)

Call us today to discuss Identity Theft and how coverage might be provided in YOUR insurance program.
